Rebecca Yorston is an experienced litigator and arbitration practitioner who represents clients in a range of complex and high-profile disputes, with a focus on construction and insolvency.
Rebecca regularly advises on managing and mitigating risks to construction and infrastructure projects and is a trusted advisor to the South Australian Government in respect of major infrastructure projects.
Rebecca acts on behalf of insolvency practitioners, directors and creditors in relation to all aspects of the insolvency process, and her experience includes matters across Australia and Hong Kong, where she practiced for five years. She has particular experience in cases involving breaches of directors’ duties and professional negligence arising in the context of commercial transactions and corporate collapses, and in cross-border asset recovery.
Rebecca has been recognised by Doyle’s Guide in the categories of Insolvency & Restructuring Lawyers, Leading Construction & Infrastructure Litigation Lawyers and Leading Commercial Litigation & Dispute Resolution Lawyers in South Australia. She serves as a South Australian State Committee Member for the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration.
Rebecca has been a Principal at LK since 2021. She has a Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice and a Bachelor of Arts from Flinders University. She is admitted in the Supreme Court of South Australia, the High Court of Australia and the High Court of Hong Kong.

new Royal Adelaide Hospital
Representing the South Australian State Government on various strategic and legal issues concerning defects, major defaults, delays and disruption in arbitral, Supreme Court of South Australia and Federal Court proceedings arising out of the AU$2.5 billion public-private partnership for the design, construction and operation of the State’s major health facility.
Kangaroo Island Port Redevelopment
Representing the South Australian State Government in a dispute concerning the upgrade of ferry terminals at Cape Jervis and Penneshaw, including representation in Supreme Court proceedings brought by the contractor.
ASX Listed Contractor
Advising an ASX listed contractor in a confidential civil construction dispute regarding construction works on a major national highway.
Vailo Insolvency
Acting for the receivers and managers of entities associated with the Vailo Group of Companies, including South Australian Supreme Court proceedings to obtain orders necessary to realise available assets for the benefit of creditors.
Sino-Forest Group
Represented the Litigation Trustee of Sino-Forest Corporation (a Hong Kong incorporated company, and formerly listed on both the Hong Kong and Toronto Stock Exchanges) in multi-jurisdictional claims against former auditors, directors and senior management in both Canada and Hong Kong.
U-Right International Holdings Limited
Represented the liquidators of U-Right International Holdings in audit negligence proceedings in Hong Kong against a global accounting firm.
Ocean Grand Group
Represented the liquidators of the Ocean Grand Group in proceedings in Hong Kong against former suppliers to the Group and in audit negligence proceedings against a global accounting firm.
3D Gold Jewellery Holdings Limited
Represented the liquidators of 3D-Gold Jewellery Holdings in audit negligence proceedings in Hong Kong against a Big Four accounting firm.
Managed Investment Scheme Dispute
Represented the responsible entity in bringing a representative action in the Federal Court of Australia on behalf of scheme members/investors against the former responsible entity for misleading and deceptive conduct and breaches of the Corporations Act.
Harris Scarfe Limited
Part of the legal team that represented the receiver of Harris Scarfe, one of Australia’s largest retailers, and its banker in long-running multi-million dollar litigation against the company’s auditors.
