Community
LK invests in the communities where we live and work.
Our support focuses on initiatives that expand access to justice, strengthen Indigenous education and health, and foster contemporary arts and culture. These long-term partnerships, many extending over a decade, allow us to contribute with purpose and support organisations creating lasting impact.
Our community work reflects the values that guide our legal practice: respect, fairness and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for those facing structural barriers. By supporting organisations focused on improving access to justice, matters of importance to Australia’s Indigenous community and the contemporary arts, we help create opportunities for individuals and communities to thrive.
Access to Justice
LK works with community legal partners and through the Accessible Justice Project to provide pro bono legal support to members of our community who would otherwise not have access to legal advice. Our work includes pro bono representation of athletes in disciplinary matters in London, pro bono and financial support to JusticeNet in Adelaide and participating in the annual London Legal Walk and Adelaide Walk for Justice fundraising events that support the invaluable services of the London Legal Support Trust and JusticeNet.
This commitment to addressing barriers to legal assistance led LK to create the Accessible Justice Project in 2020, a not-for-profit legal practice in Adelaide focused on resolving civil disputes for those with limited financial resources who are ineligible for legal aid.
Learn more about the AJPIndigenous Education and Health
LK has long-standing relationships with organisations focused on protecting the rights and improving the health, education and security of Australia’s Indigenous Community, including Yalari, SAHMRI, Indigenous Art Code and Nature Foundation. These organisations are committed to safeguarding the rights and independence of Indigenous communities through ongoing engagement, research, education, creativity and representation.
Contemporary Arts
LK draws inspiration from the perspective and industry of contemporary artists and leading art institutions, which challenge and enhance our view of the human experience. We have supported the Art Gallery of South Australia for almost two decades, including as sponsor of the Ramsay Art Prize, the largest competition for emerging artists under forty in Australia, the Helpmann Foundation and Sanaa – A Better World Through Creativity.
Sustainability
LK is committed to embedding sustainability into everyday practice and creating a greener workplace. We take practical steps to reduce our environmental impact, including energy-saving measures, waste reduction initiatives, carbon offsetting for work-related travel and encouraging low-carbon commuting through accessible office locations and cycling facilities. We also support community-focused initiatives such as charitable clothing donations.
Recycling and responsible resource use are central to our approach, with clearly structured recycling systems and confidential paper recycling in place. We actively promote mindful printing, reduced single-use items and responsible disposal of materials. As a signatory to the Greener Litigation Pledge, we are further committed to minimising the environmental impact of our legal practice and promoting more sustainable litigation.
