Connor Mulholland

Expertise and Practice
Connor has extensive experience in commercial and financial litigation in Australia and internationally, involving contractual and construction disputes, fiduciary and equitable claims, liquidations, internal investigations, insurance, employment matters and class actions. He also has experience with large high-profile regulatory and investigatory proceedings, including royal commissions and public inquiries in the banking and gaming industries.
Connor works with clients from the construction, finance, gaming, banking, viticulture and insurance sectors. Connor applies his experience with disputes and investigations to assist clients with their risk mitigation and compliance strategies.
Connor is passionate about leveraging technology to streamline case management, discovery, and case preparation. He is comfortable testing the status quo and works closely with LK’s Technology team to trial new approaches to litigation processes to achieve important efficiencies, and is a Member of the South Australian Law Society’s Litigation and Technology Committees. Connor is committed and collegiate, working closely with his peers and clients to find pragmatic and commercial solutions to difficult problems.
Connor commenced at LK in 2023, joining LK from Ashurst and Clayton Utz in Sydney. Connor has a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Arts from the University of New South Wales and is admitted in the Supreme Court of South Australia, the Supreme Court of New South Wales, and the High Court of Australia. Connor is a keen sportsman and fan and sits on related boards, and has a keen interest in sports law appearing on behalf of sporting bodies in matters before the National Sports Tribunal.
Project Highlights
Roller Networks v Rat Pack & Ors
Representing a venue management software company in Federal Court proceedings concerning allegations of misuse of confidential information and misleading and deceptive conduct.
Construction / Engineering Professional Negligence Claim
Prosecuted breach of contract, negligence and misleading and deceptive conduct claims in the Federal Court of Australia relating to a construction and engineering project for a large winery and grape processing facility, including matters of insurance.
Platinum Partners Feeder Funds
Represented the liquidators of the Platinum Partners Value Arbitrage Feeder Funds including investigations and litigation in the United States and Cayman Islands. The Feeder Funds collapsed in 2016 owing nearly US$500 million to investors.
NSW Department of Health and Sydney Local Health District
Represented client at first instance and on appeal (both in the Court of Appeal and High Court) in two significant and complex proceedings concerning possession of land, construction of a hospital and carpark, and a claim for mesne profits damages in excess of AU$100 million. These matters involved contractual and construction disputes, financial loss, environmental law, and recovery from the counter-party by repossession of land and recovery of judgment sums and legal costs.
Banking Royal Commission
Represented a major Australian financial institution in its response to the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry.
Casino Public Inquiries
Represented a gaming entity in its response to the Royal Commission into the Casino Operator and Licence (VIC), and the Perth Casino Royal Commission (WA).
International Credit Ratings Agency
Represented an international credit ratings agency in two concurrent class actions concerning the rating of Collateralised Debt Obligation products.
Multi-party Breach of Contract, Negligence and Misleading and Deceptive Conduct Claim
Represented client in multi-party claim relating to the destruction of goods which were in the custody and control of a storage provider, including matters of insurance.
Excelium v Cyberanalytics
Representing the head contractor to a Department of Defence contract in a contractual dispute with a sub-contractor in Federal Court (ACT) proceedings.
National Sports Tribunal Arbitration
Represented South Australian sporting body in confidential arbitration before the National Sports Tribunal relating to matters of member protection and an accredited coach.
Employment Tribunal Proceedings
Represented ASX listed company in proceedings commenced by a union in the South Australian Employment Tribunal alleging underpayment of annual leave entitlements for a class of employees.
Family Trust Dispute
Representing the directors of a family trust with substantial property and commercial holdings in a beneficiary dispute, and acting for the same Trust in concurrent Family Court proceedings. These matters involve trustee obligations to beneficiaries, the characterisation of trust assets, and family separation.
